Short Reads to Stimulate Long Thoughts

New Life’s Junction

When the body ceases to function

and the tent is laid aside

we are at new life’s junction

that can no longer be denied

the physical gone the spirit sores

into His presence as we’ve never known

passing through heaven’s door

reaping the life that Christ has sown

absent from body present with the Lord

eye to eye, hand in hand as never before

fresh levels of intimacy with the One adored

growing in awareness of Him even more

spiritual eyes settling our sight

the person of Jesus we now see

exchanging dimness for His glorious light

no longer bound; completely free

Your poem made me think of the feeling of freedom and the implications of the quest for that. Is that even a noble quest? I’ve always thought about that verse that says it’s for freedom that we’ve been set free. But there is some ‘baggage’ tied in there in my mind with being a bondservant and the fact that I don’t feel as if I live in freedom. I think freedom and joy seem to be overshadowed in my journey by burdens and stress.
By the way, thanks for the phone call and your recent email. Sorry I haven’t gotten back to you yet.
