Short Reads to Stimulate Long Thoughts

Archive for the month “November, 2013”

Today, Today, Today

Today is here for Today is Today

It is different than tomorrow or yesterday

For it is already here, that is Today

So it is OK for me to say

I will rejoice in Today

For tomorrow is not Today

And the past holds yesterday

Which leaves me only Today

So it’s right for me to say

If I’m to rejoice, it’s got to be Today

The News That Is GREAT!

The News that is GREAT!

Jesus, is my Savior, my God, my Life and my brother and friend.

Galatians 2: 20 I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me. 21 I do not nullify the grace of God, for if righteousness comes through the Law, then Christ died needlessly.”

There is a difference between the journey of Jesus and the Gospel of Jesus.

His journey is the path He took to accomplish His greatest purpose for us:

His birth     His earthly life     His arrest   His trial

His crucifixion     His resurrection   His ascension

The Gospel or the Good News concerning Jesus is stated clearly in Galatians 2 and Colossians 1.

Galatians 2: “…it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me

Colossians 1: 26 that is, the mystery which has been hidden from the past ages and generations, but has now been manifested to His saints, 27 to whom God willed to make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.

The Good News is Jesus Himself; forgiveness, transformation, conformation takes place as a result of His living in us.  All that Jesus wants to give us are found IN HIM, they are not trinkets He hands out.

All the riches of Christ are ours because He lives in us – we have become One with Him.

Listen to the word of God: Jesus is in me on earth and I am in Him in heaven.  It is not so much we have Him as it is He has us.

He Has Won

Oh the dilemma of the flesh

Loves to rule, and desires its comfort

Reeks of selfishness

Seeks its own, and truth distorts

Yet the Son of man came to seek

And to change the fate

Of those who reek

Of this fleshly unrighteous state

Father and Son didn’t stay

Detached in their heaven above

Leaving us to aimlessly stray

Blind to Their life giving love

This mystery is great

Revealed by the Son

Not left to our fate

Christ is us, His righteous work has won
