Isaiah 7 (NASB)

10 Then the Lord spoke again to Ahaz, saying, 11 “Ask a sign for yourself from the Lord your God; make it deep as Sheol or high as heaven.” 12 But Ahaz said, “I will not ask, nor will I test the Lord!”

************************************

Ahaz basically said: “I do not need more than Your Word to prepare, plan, and execute what You have already said for me to do.”

Oh, that I could say the same on a daily basis.

Faith is trusting in God’s revelation; risking by responding with obedience; on the basis of relational intimacy with Jesus, Father, and Spirit.

Is. 7:9 …You don’t believe me? If you want me to protect you, you must learn to believe what I say.”

Why, when God reveals to me to have a particular response for the sake of my protection and I choose to do the opposite – do I get angry at Him for allowing me to suffer the consequences of my response?

That’s because I have shifted from having faith in God to having faith in faith. Faith never accomplishes anything other than to release credit to God for what He is doing or has done. (I shall review Heb.11 with this in mind)

Faith and Prayer are meant to give credit to God for His accomplishments and to reveal our dependence on Him. We so often use faith and prayer to bring credit to ourselves – listen to what is said today in Christian circles about the person who prays and exercises faith – are we giving credit to God or the individual? We say both, but in reality, I say we lie – we give credit to man and prayer and faith are perceived as the POWER of MAN to MOVE GOD.

Father, remind me to not neglect prayer or the exercise of faith because of those who abuse, and do not let me join their ranks. I tend not to pray or trust because of the examples of fleshly-motivated brothers and sisters. Yes, I end up blaming You for not revealing this wickedness to the Body – so I sit in my chair, basking in self-righteousness typing and thinking – not much different from my brothers and sisters am I.

Isaiah 7 (NASB)

Now it came about in the days of Ahaz, the son of Jotham, the son of Uzziah, king of Judah, that Rezin the king of Aram and Pekah the son of Remaliah, king of Israel, went up to Jerusalem to wage war against it, but could not conquer it. When it was reported to the house of David, saying, “The Arameans have camped in Ephraim,” his heart and the hearts of his people shook as the trees of the forest shake with the wind.

Then the Lord said to Isaiah, “Go out now to meet Ahaz, you and your son Shear-jashub, at the end of the conduit of the upper pool, on the highway to the fuller’s field, and say to him, ‘Take care and be calm, have no fear and do not be fainthearted because of these two stubs of smoldering firebrands, on account of the fierce anger of Rezin and Aram and the son of Remaliah.

“My people, I am on the Throne, I hear the murmurings of those who oppose My ways. Listen to Me!”

1 Thessalonians 5:16 Always be joyful. 17 Always keep on praying. 18 No matter what happens, always be thankful, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.

Father, do You expect me to be joyful and thankful as often as You want me to talk You?

Do I really believe that prayer back in our schools will save America? Do I we really believe morality will make people right with God?

Do I really believe that Godliness can be legislated?

Jesus alone SAVES.   He alone makes me righteous.  Only the Father can draw people to Jesus.

We often live and talk as though Jesus is simply our religious Icon. He is a star to which we can hitch our wagon and things will turn out alright and He will fill our wagon with all the stuff we desire. In reality we are more interested in our wagon and the stuff in it than we are in intimacy with Jesus.

So what will cause us not to fear? What will change America?

Our lives lived with Jesus! I in Christ and Christ in me; Jesus not an icon or a rabbit’s foot, but God, Savior, King, Brother, Friend, Partner. Daily intimacy, daily communication (prayer), daily submission to Our life lived together with Jesus; Jesus as real as my wife, our sons, our daughter, our grandchildren, and the people that I live around. I must cultivate a relational intimacy with Jesus that governs my attitude, words, and actions.

How do I do that?

“Start by wanting intimacy with Jesus more than the wagon and the stuff; want it with all your heart, your soul and your mind; no matter the cost to your flesh.”

Isaiah 7 (NASB)

17 The Lord will bring on you, on your people, and on your father’s house such days as have never come since the day that Ephraim separated from Judah, the king of Assyria.”

18 In that day the Lord will whistle for the fly that is in the remotest part of the rivers of Egypt and for the bee that is in the land of Assyria. 19 They will all come and settle on the steep ravines, on the ledges of the cliffs, on all the thorn bushes and on all the watering places.

20 In that day the Lord will shave with a razor, hired from regions beyond the Euphrates (that is, with the king of Assyria), the head and the hair of the legs; and it will also remove the beard.

21 Now in that day a man may keep alive a heifer and a pair of sheep; 22 and because of the abundance of the milk

produced he will eat curds, for everyone that is left within the land will eat curds and honey.

23 And it will come about in that day, that every place where there used to be a thousand vines, valued at a thousand shekels of silver, will become briars and thorns. 24 People will come there with bows and arrows because all the land will be briars and thorns. 25 As for all the hills which used to be cultivated with the hoe, you will not go there for fear of briars and thorns; but they will become a place for pasturing oxen and for sheep to trample.

********************

Since I am in Partnership with Jesus, what I say or do is of great importance.

I am reminded: 9 “… You don’t believe me? If you want me to protect you, you must learn to believe what I say.”

It seems to me that Jesus works off my believing Him; which means that He works off my obedience to His revelation – to believe Him means to ACT, RISK IDENTIFICATION WITH Him by words and actions not just hidden or silent thoughts of agreement. How can He bless what is not said or what is not done?

Isaiah 7 (NASB)

Because Aram, with Ephraim and the son of Remaliah, has planned evil against you, saying, “Let us go up against Judah and terrorize it, and make for ourselves a breach in its walls and set up the son of Tabeel as king in the midst of it,” thus says the Lord God: “It shall not stand nor shall it come to pass. For the head of Aram is Damascus and the head of Damascus is Rezin (now within another 65 years Ephraim will be shattered, so that it is no longer a people), and the head of Ephraim is Samaria and the head of Samaria is the son of Remaliah. If you will not believe, you surely shall not last.”’”

******************

The Living Bible Isaiah 7:9 You don’t believe me? If you want me to protect you, you must learn to believe what I say.”

Living Bible James 2:20 Fool! When will you ever learn that “believing” is useless without doing what God wants you to? Faith that does not result in good deeds is not real faith.

***********************

“Terry, I am not just talking about My Written Word, I am also referring to what I say to you from Our relational intimacy. I speak to you daily, you need to listen AND become involved with Me in what I am wanting Us to be doing together.”

Father, could it be faith is risking action and not just maintaining thought patterns? Faith is not just seeing what is wrong but applying the actions it takes to personally live by faith. So to live by faith is to believe and do. In combining the two, faith and action, does not mean perfection but it does mean the willingness to risk, acknowledge when wrong, apologize when necessary, all the while identifying with Jesus and following His lead. Does this mean Jesus will lead me into a risk that is wrong, of course not, but it does mean that I may not always get it right, but He can count on me to follow His corrective lead. Living in constant identification with Jesus doesn’t mean perfection; it means living by, faith hope and love with the greatest of these being LOVE.

Father knows what the enemy is doing.  He even knows what they are planning.  He also knows exactly how it is affecting me, (if I’m trusting in Him, restrained by fate, or resting in the power of my flesh).

Terry, My message to you is, make no rash decisions, stay calm, trust Me and be strengthened in Our Intimacy. Relate your situations and conditions to My sovereignty. I am in control! Your trust and confidence in Me is of greater importance than your understanding of what I am up to.   Be a doer of My Word, what I speak to you about, not just a person who contemplates My Word.

Isaiah 4 (NASB)

“So now let Me tell you what I am going to do to My vineyard:
I will remove its hedge and it will be consumed;
I will break down its wall and it will become trampled ground.
“I will lay it waste;
It will not be pruned or hoed,
But briars and thorns will come up.
I will also charge the clouds to rain no rain on it.”

For the vineyard of the Lord of hosts is the house of Israel
And the men of Judah His delightful plant.
Thus He looked for justice, but behold, bloodshed;
For righteousness, but behold, a cry of distress.

Woe to those who add house to house and join field to field,
Until there is no more room,
So that you have to live alone in the midst of the land!
In my ears the Lord of hosts has sworn, “Surely, many houses shall become desolate,
Even great and fine ones, without occupants.
10 “For ten acres of vineyard will yield only one bath of wine,
And a homer of seed will yield but an ephah of grain.”
11 Woe to those who rise early in the morning that they may pursue strong drink,
Who stay up late in the evening that wine may inflame them!
12 Their banquets are accompanied by lyre and harp, by tambourine and flute, and by wine;
But they do not pay attention to the deeds of the Lord,
Nor do they consider the work of His hands.

13 Therefore My people go into exile for their lack of knowledge;
And their honorable men are famished,
And their multitude is parched with thirst.

Woe to you My people because you have sought a life of ease, a life filled with stuff, a life adorned with blessings, a life cram-packed with facts-figures-principles all from My word – but lack knowledge of Me – you choose to dance, sing, play instruments, preach sermons, teach knowledge, but shy away from building intimacy with Me.

You choose to interpret My calling to intimacy of fellowship with fulfilling a ministry. You find it easier to pursue tasks than spend time with Me. All that you do I could do without you but have chosen to do it in the context of partnership with you. I don’t want you doing it FOR ME but I want you to do it WITH ME, and that will only happen when you pursue INTIMACY WITH ME.

So tell Me Terry; How well do you know Me and how does your day depict Our intimacy?  Do you want Me or just the stuff that you can get from Me?

Isaiah 5 (NASB)

Let me sing now for my well-beloved
A song of my beloved concerning His vineyard.
My well-beloved had a vineyard on a fertile hill.
He dug it all around, removed its stones,
And planted it with the choicest vine.
And He built a tower in the middle of it
And also hewed out a wine vat in it;
Then He expected it to produce good grapes,
But it produced only worthless ones.

Father, why should I even give thought to the gathering of the Body of Christ when You have decided to bring judgment on us? I feel like withdrawing, finding a way to coexist with other believers but make no attempt to be an expression of Your Presence.

The safest response for me is to be an island to myself in my own home. Spend time in Your Word, rejoice in Your Presence, rest in Your Sovereignty, and just exist till my body expires. Attempt nothing and therefore experience no disappointment. My greatest fear is that when I do attempt to do something, I am doing it in the flesh, attempting to be a voice in the Wilderness and seeing no anticipated results.

I don’t want to hurt others

I don’t want to be hurt by others

I don’t want to say or act out of faith but out of sight (guaranteed success)

I would prefer to live quietly alone at home, than live expressively alone in Your Body

It appears I am just as much of the problem as all the rest of Your People

I am actually more discouraged after my QT than I was prior to – WHAT’S GOING ON!

Then He expected it to produce good grapes,
But it produced only worthless ones.

I feel as though I am one of the worthless ones. I am self-conscious rather than Christ-conscious.

Christ is crying in me and it is hard on me. “where are my people, where are you Terry?”
