Isaiah 13 (NASB)
14 And it will be that like a hunted gazelle,
Or like sheep with none to gather them,
They will each turn to his own people,
And each one flee to his own land.
15 Anyone who is found will be thrust through,
And anyone who is captured will fall by the sword.
16 Their little ones also will be dashed to pieces
Before their eyes;
Their houses will be plundered
And their wives ravished.

17 Behold, I am going to stir up the Medes against them,
Who will not value silver or take pleasure in gold.
18 And their bows will mow down the young men,
They will not even have compassion on the fruit of the womb,
Nor will their eye pity children.
19 And Babylon, the beauty of kingdoms, the glory of the Chaldeans’ pride,
Will be as when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah.
20 It will never be inhabited or lived in from generation to generation;
Nor will the Arab pitch his tent there,
Nor will shepherds make their flocks lie down there.
21 But desert creatures will lie down there,
And their houses will be full of owls;
Ostriches also will live there, and shaggy goats will frolic there.
22 Hyenas will howl in their fortified towers
And jackals in their luxurious palaces.
Her fateful time also will soon come
And her days will not be prolonged.

Father, not only will Your anger be vented against Your people but those who are raised up to punish will also be judged for their cruelty and their arrogance as displayed in their ignoring and their rejection of You.

Father, it seems to me that fearing You incorporates admiration, respect and awe along with the knowledge that You are to be recognized as One Who blesses with physical life as well eternal life. You and You alone posses the power to give us the choice of choosing You or rejecting You and You alone govern the consequences of either choice.

Proverbs 1:7 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge …

Proverbs 8:13 “The fear of the Lord is to hate evil; Pride and arrogance and the evil way And the perverted mouth,…

Proverbs 9:10 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom,…

Proverbs 14:26 In the fear of the Lord there is strong confidence,…

Proverbs 14:27 The fear of the Lord is a fountain of life,…

Proverbs 16:6 …And by the fear of the Lord one keeps away from evil.

Proverbs 19:23 The fear of the Lord leads to life, …

 Proverbs 29:25 The fear of man brings a snare, But he who trusts in the Lord will be exalted.

Father, You most certainly, are The One I need to fear.

The oracle concerning Babylon which Isaiah the son of Amoz saw.

“Yes, I exercise grace and mercy, yet I do get angry. I am once again angry with My Children. That is with those who are called by My Name, those in Christ My Son. They have replaced me with My Own Written Word just as the nation of the Jews did.”

“They pick and choose what they want to emphasis and add their interpretations to my revelation as though they are as inspired as My Word. Even after they come to Me by grace through faith, that was a gift, they respond as though they made it by their intelligence and teach in a manner as they can NOW add to the righteousness that is theirs in Christ Jesus. Many act as though they are the Head of My Church as though Jesus abdicated His position, turning it over to them because they have greater insight into Biblical Spirituality.”

“Now, Terry look to the horizon of your time; what do you see?”

Lift up a standard on the bare hill,
Raise your voice to them,
Wave the hand that they may enter the doors of the nobles.
I have commanded My consecrated ones,
I have even called My mighty warriors,
My proudly exulting ones,
To execute My anger.

“I see an army being raised up to oppose Your truth with the purpose to extinguish all that represents You. I see my own government opposed to ideology that upholds the affirmation that You exist and that You care. I see Your people calling their own created institutions ‘church’, equating them to the same status as the “Church. We unwittingly have once again settled for religion rather than Relationship and we are unable to see our own duplicity.”

“I see myself in their midst, confused, frustrated and not knowing what to do. I see we, Your people, have a reckoning day coming. My tendency is to curl up in a fetus position and wait for Your ax to fall.”

“Even so come, Lord Jesus!”

Isaiah 12 (NASB)

And in that day you will say,
“Give thanks to the Lord, call on His name.
Make known His deeds among the peoples;
Make them remember that His name is exalted.”

“Give Me Thanks.” (public and private)

“Call on My Name.” (talk to Jesus, Father, Spirit all the time, everywhere,)

“Talk about My Deeds.” (brag on Jesus, Father, Spirit as though I’m in Love)

“Remind others to exalt My Name.” (encourage others to share from their relationship with Jesus, Father, Spirit)

Isaiah 12 (NASB)

Therefore you will joyously draw water
From the springs of salvation.

There is sustenance in salvation. As water brings needed ingredients the plant to meet its needs for healthy, sustain physical life, and maintain the assimilation of sunlight, and for making of nutritional fluids, so salvation carries with it, Springs of Living Water.

Salvation is more than an insurance policy, it is more than a contract and it entails more than just a verbally promised covenant. It is more than a One Time event.

Salvation is a moment by moment relational intimacy with Jesus. Salvation is a Spring of Living Water that is a continuous flow of Life from the Father through Jesus of Nazareth the Son of the Living God.

How can I expect to be a healthy, vibrant disciple of Jesus’ if I don’t work at developing an intimate relational Oneness with Jesus on a daily basis? How in the world am I going to enjoy heaven with Jesus if I do not enjoy intimacy with Him NOW.  He and I will make it happen because of His presence and power.

Isaiah 12 (NASB)

“Behold, God is my salvation,
I will trust and not be afraid;
For the Lord God is my strength and song,
And He has become my salvation.”

“Behold, I am your Salvation.”

“Behold, I am your Support.” (Trust)

“Behold, I am your Strength.”

“Behold, I am your Song.”

Therefore I am not be afraid!

  1. I delight in Your Salvation.
  2. I anticipate Your Support.
  3. I expect Your Strength.
  4. I make You my Song.

Isaiah 10 (NASB)

Woe to those who enact evil statutes
And to those who constantly record unjust decisions,
So as to deprive the needy of justice
And rob the poor of My people of their rights,
So that widows may be their spoil
And that they may plunder the orphans.
Now what will you do in the day of punishment,
And in the devastation which will come from afar?
To whom will you flee for help?
And where will you leave your wealth?
Nothing remains but to crouch among the captives
Or fall among the slain.
In spite of all this, His anger does not turn away
And His hand is still stretched out.

Father, why is it we Your people can get so caught up in our OWN fleshly living; that we can feel sorry for the widow and do nothing, have compassion for the orphan and live as though a ‘stuff’ gift now and then is sufficient to dismiss any personal involvement.

How is it we blame the unrighteous for the ills of our community and believe You will bring them to account but as for us we can sit, stand, learn Your Word and worship You, without feeling a need for personal change?  It seems we sit in judgment of our society, in self-righteousness, and arrogance we communicate – “if everyone would just live and believe like I do… .”

So we (I) must face the fact that we (I) will ‘crouch among the captives or fall among the slain’. Because as a whole we His people are negligent of a personal intimacy with Jesus that allows us to be One with Him.  We ignore His presence when it inconveniences. “After all I’m just human.” “There are privileges that come with being a child of the King.”

We have made several gifts of the Spirit Professional Offices.

I’m too busy to visit the widow, encourage the orphan, read the Bible, talk to my neighbor about Jesus, work with the homeless, go to prisons, visit nursing homes, pray with the shut-ins, walk the halls of the hospitals – no Jesus wouldn’t want me to do these things.

Yet I eke out time to play golf, go fishing, watch sports for 4 hours at a time, take vacations, buy autos, boats, four wheelers, skis, matching clothes, attend concerts, – when is the last time I visited the sick, the last time I told a non-Christian how much Jesus loved them, when is the last time I read my Bible to hear from Father, Son and Spirit just for me, when is the last time I … Oh, I just remembered I don’t have to; it’s no longer my responsibility; it is my Pastor’s JOB. We His people have hired him to do it for us.  As result, we His people, have a reckoning day coming and it will not be a slap on the wrist.

Isaiah 9 (NASB)

For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us;
And the government will rest on His shoulders;
And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.
There will be no end to the increase of His government or of peace,
On the throne of David and over his kingdom,
To establish it and to uphold it with justice and righteousness
From then on and forevermore.
The zeal of the Lord of hosts will accomplish this.

Do I visualize Jesus as sitting next to Father, or sitting inside of me?

Do I visualize Jesus accomplishing His will by pushing buttons in heaven, or gently speaking to me?

Do I visualize Jesus’ presence in a mystic, ghostly, manner here on earth or recognize His presence in me and fellow my brothers and sisters in Christ?

I think that most believers see Jesus as Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace as a Person removed from everyday life. He is not a daily encounter as a Person so much as He is somehow holding all things together and will eventually have His way. Yet, we talk of Him as He is here but live as though He expects us to live FOR Him; as though we are to accomplish what He cannot do without us, rather than live WITH Him, accomplishing the things that He wants to do WITH us.

Yes, we are willing to die for Jesus, but are we willing to LIVE WITH JESUS. We believers often treat Jesus as some treat marriage:

Separate leisure activities

Separate bank accounts

Separate bedrooms

Separate vacations

Separate interests

Separate careers

Separate cars

Surly Jesus will bless our separateness because we are doing it all for Him.

Is Jesus MY life, or is He simply a badge I choose to wear when it is convenient?

Isaiah 9 (NASB)

The people who walk in darkness
Will see a great light;
Those who live in a dark land,
The light will shine on them.
You shall multiply the nation,
You shall increase their gladness;
They will be glad in Your presence
As with the gladness of harvest,
As men rejoice when they divide the spoil.

Father, it seems that I tire of the light. I want to walk in darkness so I can once again rejoice in the light. Your presence becomes ‘old hat’. I want something fresh.

It is like a man dying from thirst and someone comes with a canteen of fresh sweet water. Wow, what a blessing! Then the man discovers that the canteen is filled everyday with fresh water, it seems to never runs dry.

As time passes the man begins to question the validity of the canteen.

Where did it come from?

Why is it shaped in the manner it is shaped?

Who provided the canteen?

Is there any other source other than the canteen?

Where does the water come from?

Why is it, that other water doesn’t taste the same?

Surly other water is good for one besides this water?

Why would it be harmful to taste water from a different source?

Believers seem to tire of Jesus. Believers appear to tire of the springs of living water.

Could it be that Jesus never becomes anything more than a Savior, Redeemer, and always remains aloof as a King of Kings in a far away palace called heaven?

Could it be that Jesus is never REALLY accepted as our only ‘in indwelling’ source of Life, a friend that sticks closer than a brother or ‘partner’ that has invited us to join Him in His Father’s enterprises?

Jesus is the Groom, we are the Bride, yet in everyday life we display the opposite. We are more enchanted with His robe, His heaven, His gifts, His promises than we are with Him as a person. We find that our since of significance is derived from ‘ministry’, ‘blessings’, ‘abilities’ and ‘applause’ from ourselves or others than from relational intimacy with the “Groom”.

We love the spoil, more than the Groom! Therefore we are anemic, sick, and don’t even know it.  Unwittingly the spoil has spoiled us.
