A Note to Ponder

A Note to Ponder

There needs to be a peeling back of religious tradition to find the Biblical truth of Jesus. Systematic Theology has wrapped the truth of personal intimacy with Jesus in shell harder to break through than the shell of a black walnut.

Life lived with Christ is of greater value than life lived for Jesus. We are in the same condition of religious numbness as the Rabbis, Sadducee and Pharisees were in Jesus’ day – blinded by the brightness of our own wisdom and rituals.

God did not, give us His Son, He gave us, to His Son!

Jesus came primarily to share His life with us, making it possible to approach and be accepted by the Father through CHRIST. Jesus came to offer life not death. I embrace death if I remain as I am, without Christ.

It is only when I accept Christ that I am released from death. Jesus is the difference between life and death. Taking up my cross is not taking up death, but embracing life in Oneness with Christ. The life I live with Christ, I live to experience the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of His suffering. Our abundant life if for living not dying!

Isaiah 17 (NASB)

Now in that day the glory of Jacob will fade,
And the fatness of his flesh will become lean.
It will be even like the reaper gathering the standing grain,
As his arm harvests the ears,
Or it will be like one gleaning ears of grain
In the valley of Rephaim.

Israel was fascinated with themselves. They sought for what God wanted to give them; they displayed excitement over the possessions, and miracles they were receiving from God.  They gave God praise, thanking Him for the stuff.  But Israel was fascinated  with themselves.

With subtlety they were lead astray by the things from God. With the craft of the deceptive cloak of religion, their hearts shifted from their love of God to a captivated love, for the things of God.  God and God’s stuff, to them, became the same. The decedents of Jacob didn’t even notice this shift and ignored the prophets who were announcing His warning.

Father, this sounds a lot like the church of today. I do not want to be fascinated with STUFF. I will enjoy the stuff as a gift from You. Yet, I will be of those who will lay aside, run with endurance, and I will fix my eyes on Jesus considering Him, so as not to grow weary or lose heart.

…”let us also lay aside every encumbrance and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

For consider Him who has endured such hostility by sinners against Himself, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart. Hebrews 12: 1-3  (NASB)

AM I ONE OF THOSE?

AM I ONE OF THOSE?

Am I one of those, God’s releasing; a Jesus follower, a disciple rediscovering the reality of Christ in me; my hope of glory?

Am I pealing tradition back to see what is hidden beneath?  Am I, rediscovering the gems that are canceled under the cloak of repetitive lecturing and ‘lock step’ marching?  Am I one of those exposing the real Jesus that has been camouflaged by the rhetoric and religiosity of my time?

It is the Jesus seekers, the ones who see what is, is not, as it should be, and are being transformed by the renewing their minds.  They are inspired by the God of Scripture rather than the precepts of religion.  They explore applications; create faith based actions with Jesus rather than for Jesus.  They probe avenues of expression in light of their relationship with Jesus; their faith becomes an adventure, not just in thought, but through a life, LIVED, in intimacy with JESUS.

They create, explore, and inspire from the foundation of this intimacy.  They encourage, exhort and build up the Body of Christ, in love, by fixing their eyes on Jesus, the author and finisher of their faith.

Wake up, oh Church, you are not a building, you are not an institution, you are not a religious denomination;

But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood,

a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession,

so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him

who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;…

Isaiah 17 (NASB)

The oracle concerning Damascus.

“Behold, Damascus is about to be removed from being a city
And will become a fallen ruin.
“The cities of Aroer are forsaken;
They will be for flocks to lie down in,
And there will be no one to frighten them.
“The fortified city will disappear from Ephraim,
And sovereignty from Damascus
And the remnant of Aram;
They will be like the glory of the sons of Israel,”
Declares the Lord of hosts.

What is God declaring today?

Hebrews 1: 1 God, after He spoke long ago to the fathers in the prophets in many portions and in many ways, in these last days has spoken to us in His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the world. And He is the radiance of His glory and the exact representation of His nature, and upholds all things by the word of His power. When He had made purification of sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, having become as much better than the angels, as He has inherited a more excellent name than they. (NASB)

Hebrews 12: Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

For consider Him who has endured such hostility by sinners against Himself, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart. (NASB)

When Jesus is mostly history I tend to live in the past recalling His deeds.

When Jesus is mostly promises I tend to live in the future dreaming of His return.

When Jesus is mostly current I tend to live in the present doing things with Him.

The greater Jesus’ presence is a conscious reality, the greater the depth of my worship of Father, Son and Spirit.

Jesus is the reality of the Presence of God.  I need to look no further than Jesus.

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.

Isaiah 17 (NASB)
In that day their strong cities will be like forsaken places in the forest,
Or like branches which they abandoned before the sons of Israel;
And the land will be a desolation.
10 For you have forgotten the God of your salvation
And have not remembered the rock of your refuge.
Therefore you plant delightful plants
And set them with vine slips of a strange god.

Father, You are the God of Promises; the God of Covenants. You are God of my protection, place of peace, hiding or separation from the flesh, world and Satan. You are the revealer, transformer, and conformer. You are Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness, and Self-Control; ready and willing to be expressed through Oneness with Christ Jesus.

I am a man without excuse – the world, the flesh and Satan cannot defeat Jesus unless I choose to let them defeat me.

          My excuse is that it should be easy not effort – focus on Jesus.

          My excuse is that the flesh is weak – focus on Jesus.

          My excuse is the world is sooooo attractive – focus on Jesus.

          My excuse is that Satan is too powerful – focus on Jesus.

Romans 12:Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect. (NASB)

Hebrews 12:…fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. (NASB)

My greatest problem is I have let tradition turn my Bible into the ‘tree of knowledge of good and evil, rather than being the ‘tree of life’ revealing the heart of God. Thank You that Your Revelation has become more than a self-help book; it is Your book of revelation, drawing me into Union with You through Jesus Christ.

ISAIAH 16

Therefore I will weep bitterly for Jazer, for the vine of Sibmah;
I will drench you with my tears, O Heshbon and Elealeh;
For the shouting over your summer fruits and your harvest has fallen away.

13 This is the word which the Lord spoke earlier concerning Moab. 14 But now the Lord speaks, saying, “Within three years, as a hired man would count them, the glory of Moab will be degraded along with all his great population, and his remnant will be very small and impotent.”

*****************

Father, You weep over the choices of Your people and people in general because of the repercussions our choices are bringing upon us.

It is as though You tell us to stay away from crossing a line and we make decisions that move us as close to the line as possible, then are toe goes over it, then one whole foot and then we are walking on the other side of the line and it isn’t as bad as You made it out to be.

So we determined to live there not recognizing that destruction was gradually approaching and we claimed Your promises to no avail and the world around us now blames us for the consequences because we claim its not the believer’s fault but that of the world (them). All that can be said of God’s people is that we don’t dabble in the worst of life styles, we are just not: as greedy, as violent, as immoral, as hateful, as worldly, as indifferent to God’s presence in the world, as …etc.

We now live miles beyond the line and Your heart is broken and You weep because we chose to be of the world rather than simply live in the world. In reality You’re not our life source on Your side of the line. The world sees it and hates us because we remind them of God’s “line” not even recognizing the masks of hypocrisy we are wearing.

We have made God a rule maker rather than a Father. We have chosen ritualistic posses rather than heartfelt personal worship, we have chosen the tree of knowledge of good and evil rather than personal intimacy, we are the frog in a kettle of cool water not even recognizing that it is we ourselves that are turning up the heat – we as the people of God now accept humor, actions, attitudes, violence, sexual content, prosperity that 50 years ago was considered opposed to God – are we not more like the world today than we were even when we first accepted Christ and recognized the existence of the line between His Kingdom of relational intimacy and the embracing the world’s values. We have become a blend of the worldly values and religious rituals and don’t even recognize it. The power of deception is that we don’t know we are deceived.

The heat is turned on, the water is getting warmer and the frog doesn’t even know it is his hand on the heart valve. AND GOD IS WEEPING!

Isaiah 14 (NASB)

24 The Lord of hosts has sworn saying, “Surely, just as I have intended so it has happened, and just as I have planned so it will stand,…

Father, I need to concentrate on what You have sworn to me through Jesus Christ. I am not to get bogged down with past history; but know that I am making history ‘In Christ’, for Your glory and the glorification of Christ Jesus.

This present generation and future generations need examples of Christ centered living.

Thank You for placing us in Christ Jesus, that with Him we are: “Partners Forever, In Everything Together”.

We, as Believers, have been brought into Oneness with Christ. Christ in us, and we in Christ, for the world to see and the building up of the Body of Christ.

By Your power, grace, mercy and indwelling, I will live in a manner worthy of this great calling.

Isaiah 14 (NASB)

When the Lord will have compassion on Jacob and again choose Israel, and settle them in their own land, then strangers will join them and attach themselves to the house of Jacob. The peoples will take them along and bring them to their place, and the house of Israel will possess them as an inheritance in the land of the Lord as male servants and female servants; and they will take their captors captive and will rule over their oppressors.

And it will be in the day when the Lord gives you rest from your pain and turmoil and harsh service in which you have been enslaved, that you will take up this taunt against the king of Babylon, and say,

******************

Father, You determine the consequences! I like to claim the consequences and determine when it is time to appropriate them, NOT SO with You. It is all in Your timing not mine. I suppose that is one great reason why I need to walk in FELLOWSHIP with You in Christ Jesus.

I want it, and I want it now is the cry of my heart. I look at what the promise leads to and claim it as mine rather than looking at You and claiming “I’m Yours.” I would rather claim the promise without bothering with bowing before You in love, adoration and submission.

We, Your people, tend to claim the promise rather than pursue intimacy with You and allow You to deliver on Your promises in Your timing. We want the promises then we will take You; if we have to!

Thank You for Grace and Mercy. I can embrace You from my position in Christ Jesus. Believing in Jesus must be accompanied with Believing Jesus. The evidence of this is seen in faith actions (and Terry / non-action is an action) based on my intimacy with Jesus.

Jesus loved me knowing it would cost Him and He willingly suffered; I love Jesus and attempt to avoid any kind of suffering, is it because I believe He wouldn’t want me to suffer?
